Preliminary plans have been started for our 60th reunion.  The first step was to establish a date. Linda Gooch asked class members, through our mailing list, what month would they feel best for holding the reunion.  The majority was August.  Therefore, the date of August 8-9, 2025 has been identified.  This is just the first step.  Further plans require locations, food, costs, etc. etc.  Please get involved by contacting Linda with your thoughts.  You can also send your thoughts to the Webmaster of this site and they will be passed onto Linda.  Although over a year away we need to start planning now, so mark your 2025 calendar.

Larry D. Jackson

Larry D Jackson passed away on March 7, 2024 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  He was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado on June 20, 1947 to the late Joyce and Doyle Jackson.  He grew up in Craig, Colorado and attended Moffat County High School, graduating in 1965.

Larry served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970.  After his enlistment his career continued as a police officer in Loveland, Colorado and evolved to security manager of Hewlett Packard in Ft. Collins.  One of his greatest accomplishments was attaining his Certified Professional Protection certification which advanced his career "up and to the right" with Agilent Technologies, Securitas and the United States Postal Service; from which he retired in 2009 after serving in both Wisconsin and Iowa.

Larry loved hunting deer and elk in Colorado and fishing in Alaska, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  He enjoyed a good card game, a trip to the casino, and "one or two" beers at the Elks Club in Loveland and Lenny's Tap in Green Bay.  Larry loved traveling and meeting new people; and later in life he loved nothing better than living among nature in the north woods of Wisconsin where "every day had it's own beauty".

He is survived by his wife, Ellen, sons Shane J (Jackie), Jason (Annette), Shane R (Lisa), Steve (Donna) and daughters Shannan and Cherie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his children's mother, Jinny, plus many more friends and family.  He is also survived by his sister, Cindy McWhorter and brother David (Barb).

Save a Place For Me

I have asked the questions why

But I guess the answer is for another time So instead I'll pray with every tear And be thankful for the time I had you here.

So, save some grace for me, and save a place for me.

Larry you are so loved and so missed.

Cliff Morrison
November 24, 2021 – November 30, 2021

Clifford Morrison was born on November 7, 1946 to Harvey and Beatrice Morrison in Craig, CO. Audrey was born on December 14, 1953 to Fred and Betty Root in Craig, CO. They were married on March 17, 1979. They have resided in Searchlight, NV for the last several years where they were very active in their church and senior center. Cliff passed away in Henderson, NV on November 24, 2021 and Audrey passed away on November 30, 2021 also in Henderson. They are survived by: Maria Purcell (daughter), Tommy Dedmore (son), Michele Claborn (daughter), Amy Morrison (daughter), Caroline Steveson (sister), Marcie Karas (sister), Bernice Herndon (sister), John Morrison (brother), fifteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, and many friends. They were very loved and will be extremely missed. They will live on forever in our hearts and memories.
Val (Huck) Atwood was born in Vernal, Utah, in 1946, to Cap and Effie Atwood. He had four half-brothers, Nord and Hollis Atwood and Lloyd and Cal Barnson. As an outfitter’s son, he spent most of his youth hunting and fishing in the mountains of Utah and Colorado, developing skills that served him in later life through the military, as an outfitter, a general contractor, and a father. He loved his country and enlisted in the Army to serve in the Vietnam war in the 705th Maintenance Battalion.
After returning from Vietnam, he attended Brigham Young University and met Jolyn Nebeker from La Grande, Oregon. Ever the romantic, he told his roommates after their first date, “that’s the girl I’m going to marry.” They were sealed February 5th in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were married until her death two months prior to his in August 2021.
Val and Jolyn were blessed with nine children, and sacrificed everything they could to make their home a place where their children learned to search for truth, work hard, and serve others. Val could not have been more devoted to his children and spared no effort to be at every game, performance, or event, even spending his 25th wedding anniversary at a junior jazz basketball game — because he promised his children he would never miss one.
Val was never outworked in any of his professions or service, but spent most of that effort on others, and not for his own benefit. This included service as a leadership missionary for his church with Jolyn in Kansas City. In his neighborhood, there are few if any homes he hadn’t repaired, families he hadn’t moved in, or places he had not served.
He was, beyond all else, a tender and compassionate friend to everyone — frequently embarrassing his kids as he made friends with total strangers. From the first moment he met anyone, he was immediately their friend. He will be remembered as tender, loyal, generous to a fault, and utterly selfless and considerate.
Val and Jolyn are survived by their children, Shane, Doug (Tonia Rohde), Jeff (Kristen Tolman), Kimberly (Joe Stoney), Joe Buck (Kati Farmer), Christy (Kirk Johnson), Remington (Tamara Cizmas), Marshall (Amber Nicholls), and Weston (Ali Carpenter), 27 grandsons and 13 granddaughters, with grandchild 41 on the way.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 18th at 11:00 AM at the American Fork Central Stake Center, 320 N 100 E, American Fork, UT.   A viewing will be held on Sunday October 17th, from 7:00 - 8:00 PM and on Monday October 18th from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the same address. Interment will be at the American Fork Cemetery.

Class Reunion canceled
After much thought, deliberation and good judgement, plans for a class reunion has been canceled.  The virus concerns and its impact upon all of us compels the priority for our safety.  Additionally, the response to our survey indicated a small interest for a reunion this time around.

The class of 1966 have discussed plans for their reunion next June during the Whittle Da Wood contest and classic car show weekend, which is Father’s Day.  They have invited us to attend so that’s something we might consider for maybe next summer.

Let us all keep each other in our thoughts and prayers during these difficult times.  Family and friends are comforting as well as your classmates.  Feel free to reach out via email or phone call to any classmate to just check in and say hi, I was thinking about you, how are you doing?
01/11/2020
Hello classmates:
The time has snuck around again for a class reunion.  This year we celebrate 55 years since leaving MoCoHi.
Discussion has started on when and how a reunion can be put together for this summer.  The weekend of July 31, August 1 and August 2 has been identified for a possible date.  This weekend was looked at because the Balloon Festival is going on which could provide extra activities for our classmates to enjoy.  Additional discussions have suggested we hold a combination reunion with years 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969.  Years before or after may also be considered.  This might be one big reunion or we all might meet just one time to socialize and then each year could do their own thing for dinner, etc.  There could be various possibilities for doing a combined reunion, or not?  The point is, we need your thoughts so planning can start to formulate our reunion.

Linda (Gooch) Kitzhaber has volunteered to assemble your thoughts.  She will then collaborate with several other classmates who volunteered their help.  So, I ask that you take a minute and email your thoughts to Linda.  I have provided her email link below so all you have to do now is click on it and provide her your suggestions.  Please think about dates, activities, dinner suggestions and maybe even social gathering locations.  Your thoughts are needed now so planning can start.
Thank, Charlie

Here's a message from Linda Gooch asking our thoughts for a 55th reunion.  Please respond to her by clicking on the link following her post.

Ok, gang - Looking for feedback for our reunion next summer. Suggestions of when(June,July,Aug,Sept); Do Fri night, Sat night & Sun brunch or something else;  Place( the Luttrell Barn seems to be a nice, private place, would need to be catered meal) or other suggestions?  Activities happening in the area to participate in: depending on the month, there is the Whittle da Wood contest in June, I believe, the hot air balloon event in early August along with the county fair, etc.  Do we want to include other classes from around our year? Or all 1960's?   Check with other classmates you're in contact with and let me know what your thoughts are.  Looking forward to hearing back from y'all!

Linda Bilsing returned home yesterday to find her house intact, only problem she reported was three moths flying around inside to contend with.  Tina French is also home and reports fire is 45% contained today.  Larry Rutherford’s address is listed on the fire map as RED which indicates a total loss.  We cannot verify that and there is no way to get a hold of Larry to confirm.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.  If anyone has a cell phone number for Larry please call him and provide us with his situation.

Bill’s younger years were spent in Vancouver, Wash., and Canon Beach and Seaside, Ore. He loved the coast.
Bill moved to Craig in 1964 and graduated from Moffat County High School in 1965. He returned to Washington and married Beverly Thomas in June 1967. To this union, son William Todd Brewer was born.
After his marriage to Beverly, Bill married Ellen Vanderveen. The couple had two children, William Chad and Kelsey Dawn.
For the past 17 years Bill has shared his life with Margaret Arnold in Layton, Utah. Margie was the love of his life and encouraged him through failing health and the loss of his leg from diabetes in 2009.
Bill was ambitious and able to accomplish anything he set his mind to. He was an excellent welder and enjoyed creating ornamental iron railings and trailers. For a time, he owned Iron Decor in Craig.
Bill spent several years working alongside his dad, logging in the mountains of Colorado. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was part owner in Brewer & Sons Trucking, hauling oil out of Nevada and Utah with his dad and his brother, Greg.
Bill also worked as a mechanic, tree trimmer and carpenter. He helped build a cabin at Wilderness Ranch and a home in Vancouver. One of his greatest accomplishments was helping to design and having the exclusive manufacturing rights for the Woodland Stove. He spent many years in this endeavor. He built a beautiful stone fireplace at Cedar Golf Course, also in Vancouver.
Bill loved fast cars, boats, sandrails and motorcycles. He owned many cars, including classics. A black ’67 Corvette was among his favorites. He also had a collection of hundreds of Hot Wheels toy cars. He enjoyed camping, boating, skiing, sandrailing, watching NASCAR and Indy 500 races, which he had attended in person. He liked Western movies, car shows, barbecuing, hunting and spending time outdoors.
Bill looked forward to spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He realized his dream to attend the Sturgis motorcycle rally in 2011 with his brother, Greg. He made sure to get a hat to prove it. It would be the last such trip he was able to take, and he treasured the memories.
Family describes Bill as ambitious, creative, passionate, meticulous, stubborn, handsome, loving, funny, caring, tenderhearted and, again, stubborn — a Brewer trait!
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Bill; his mother, Dorothy; and his grandbaby, Shelby Fritz.
